SQ Build in my 2002 Avalon

Hi guys,

This is my first of what will probably end up being 3 separate SQ builds. Daily driver needs lovin' first!

My vehicle is a 2002 Toyota Avalon with the JBL 7-speaker system.
Currently the stereo is 100% stock except I replaced the blown rear deck 8" sub with a DVC 2ohm Kicker CVR 8", currently running at 4ohms off the stock JBL amp (a real powerhouse )
I made sure to seal up the mounting flange to the back deck and the sub ring to the mounting flange before I plunked it back in place.

Front stage (stock) is 6.5" in the doors off axis and tweeters in the corners of the dash more or less aimed at the front seat listeners. If you squint in http://static.cargurus.com/images/si...517707864.jpeg you can just barely see the tweeter's actual location directly above the ignition switch. It actually sounds tight and crisp to a certain volume level.
Rear doors have 3.5" in them. I have the system faded front 1 on the stock radio because I am not really a fan of rear fill.

I am planning to install a doubledin receiver in place of the factory radio, bypass the stock amp, and install an MS-8 to run 2-way active in the front, and initially power all the speakers.

Initially, before I found the wonder that is this site, I had sort of earmarked JBL p26T tweeters (for their high efficiency) and Pioneer TS-M650PRO (for relatively low cost and high efficiency) for midranges.
And I was going to run the sub at 1ohm and power it with Kicker's tiny 100W RMS PX200.1 amp, since the 3rd brake light is directly above the subwoofer and there isn't much I can do about that without making a new housing for it

Anyway... I think that the sub bass (when provided with more powa) from the sub will be very nice and adequate for my needs/tastes, but I am torn about what to do for the front stage. I have done fiberglass projects before, but I want to keep the interior looking 100% stock (except the DVD unit, but the trim kit will be color matched to the dash panel). Is it worth it to ditch the rear fill altogether and find a way to go 3-way up front?

Of course, I plan to seal and deaden all 4 doors, the back deck, and the floors when I have the seats out for the MS-8 install.

When budget allows, I was planning to install a bigger amp like the JL 600/6.

For speakers, I can scrounge up about $300 for the front stage. MS-8s are affordable on ebay ($380ish), and deadening and whatnot is gonna be another 200. I haven't picked out a deck yet, kind of waiting to see how the 2013 Pioneer stuff pans out. I am planning to get my sound deadening stuff from Don at SDS because he is close geographically to me, and he has helped me in the past.

Any suggestions or comments are always welcome. I will try to start a build thread once this gets going a bit!

Thanks!
