Odd problem after install in 2010 civic

So my buddy just bought a touchscreen JVC KW-ADV64BT and I helped him install it in his 2010 Civic EX. using a Scoche wiring harness adapter. The speakers are some aftermarket 6.5"s all the way around. No amps or subs.

All was fine, install went smooth and it sounds good compared to his cheapo honda bottom of the line HU.

Now he says he has noticed a problem that when he is listening to his stereo with his engine off and the key on accessory, if he turns the volume up much past half way the unit cuts off and restarts itself. It only does it when the engine is not running.

It should be noted that his factory HU had 3 plugs going into the rear of it, plus an antenna plug. This JVC unit only plugs up to one of the factory plugs and the antenna. The other plugs we just left unconnected.

Also I crimped, soldered and heatshrinked every connection when attaching the JVC harness with the Scosche harness. Besides the speakers all I connected was red power, yellow power, black ground, orange dimmer and a DVD/parking brake ground which I wired in with the black stereo ground.

Anyone have this experiance before? Thanks
