Ok I've picked out my mid bass and midrange, pairing a Peerless SLS 6.5" with a Dayton RS100 4" midrange (or an RS125 but this would drop the crossover down to 2k-ish I think), I am looking for a nice tweeter to pair with them.
From reviews I have read, the Scan Speak D3004 would fit my needs but I would like to find a cheaper tweeter. I really like the sound of Rainbows, but again, the Cal 25 Germaniums are $200+ for a pair.
So, any suggestions for a tweeter that can play fairly loud and not get harsh. I like a softer, laid back tweeter. They will be mounted in the sails and I will try to get them as on-axis as possible.
Budget is around $100-$150 for the pair. Looking for a small format, I won't be able to get a large format tweeter into the sails.
Cross over point is very flexible, up to 5-6k (with the RS100's).
Also will take suggestions on different midrange, I can't go any bigger than a smaller 5.25" (3" or less depth). I am sticking with the 6.5" SLS for midbass, the midbass and midrange will both be mounted in the doors, however I will be pointing the midrange on axis as much as possible.
