New to this site, and I'm so glad I found it. Wealth of info and knowledge, been doing a lot of reading! I'm looking to do an install in an 01 Sequoia, going completely stealth, as I can't give up any cargo space. I currently have a hodge podge of equipment from over the years, but feel like I need to sell a bunch of it to meet my goals.. I currently own:
HU: Premier DEH-P880PRS
Amps: Punch 200x2 Trans.ana
JL Audio 300/4
Speakers: MB Quart PSD 216 - 6.5" components
MB Quart QM 160 - 6.5" pair
MB Quart QM 130 TD-S 5.25" pair
MB Quart QM 13 HX tweets
Polk DB 1000 tweets
JL Audio 6.5" pair - No model #, from the early-mid 90's, look like little subs, big beefy magnets
Subs: JL Audio 10w3v2-d4 pair
JL Audio 10w4-d4 pair
2 sets of MB Quart passive crossovers, one pair with the components, obviously
So in the Sequoia, I was hoping to put an amp under each seat, but there isn't room under the drivers seat. I really like the Quart PDS 216's, but the mid bass is lacking, so here's what I'm thinking for a system:
HU: Existing Premier
Speakers: Existing Quart PDS 216 components, mid in a kick panel Q form
mid bass in the front doors, after sound deadening - which mid bass? Try the JL's if I have clearance, or don't bother?
Rear doors: mix the other existing Quart 6.5's and Polk tweets, or buy a component set
Sub: Buy a JL Audio Stealth Box
Amp: Buy an Alpine PDX-5, or if I can find it used for a really good price, a JL HD900/5
Crossovers: use the passive Quarts
Thoughts on this set up overall? I chewed on going active, but don't think I have the room for 1 channel per speaker. Also the HU, which I would prefer to use if I went active, only goes 3-way - can you do a 4-way with it, incorporating mid bass and mids, perhaps mixing in a passive? I've never done active before, so I don't know how it would be done with subs, mid bass, mids, and highs. I appreciate anyones opinions, constructive criticisms, or suggestions!
