I have a 94 GMC Sierra regular cab pickup. I removed the 4x6 dash mount speakers and mounted a set of Boston Acoustic 5.25" components to the factory speaker grills (they're hard plastic and I covered them with some nice 3M Carbon Fiber Flex Wrap). It's not a perfect mounting solution but it looks OK and it kept me from cutting my doors, which I was prepared to do if this didn't sound good but it does.
My question is, before I finalize the install and use either screws or some sort of rope caulk to lock down the speaker/grill mount combo, should I install either a baffle or maybe some dynamat into the hole to isolate the mid bass driver? I ask because the bottom is basically open down through the dash to the floor.
Thanks for any input.
