Obviously lots of newer cars are integrating a lot of useful functions into their head units, and placing head unit-driven displays and controls in varied locations in the cabin (new Honda Accord and Civic, for example...Fords with MFT, GMs with MyLink). Some ('12 and '13 VWs) are putting the connection from head unit to factory amp on a digital bus system.
I have two questions--will it be possible to interface with / intercept those digital bus signals in the future, and is the trend in built-in head units toward lower or higher quality signals that can be used to integrate with amps? In other words, are manufacturers still doing crazy speaker-protection, moving-target EQ curves that are very difficult to un-do?
