IB 12" assistence. Yes I have used search ;)

Seems IB is the popular topic these past few years. Moving onto my issue I didn't want ti highjack anyone's thread or resurrect a thread from nearly three years ago.

Here is what I need. An IB 12" woofer for SQ that is fairly shallow, as I need to not only drop it into my rear deck lid, but clear the trunk lid support rods. Not to be mistaken with "Shallow Subs" as those are not typically IB. The OEM IB sub is 8" and has a mounting depth of 3.75". I am sure we can push our search to 4". I will accommodate the power as needed.

Here is what I have discovered:

My trunk is 12.5 cu ft
We want a high Qts: .5-.7
I only have room for one 12" sub, so the Dyn MW190 prolly wont cut it.
Morel doesn't make an IB sub

My plan is to mount the 12" woofer in place of the 8" woofer. The OEM cutout in the deck lid is 7.5". The average 12" woofer needs approx 11" cutout, so I will need to plasma cut a larger opening by about 3.5" or 1.75" on all sides of the current opening. I then plan to mount a fitted, machined ring (nice and durable) on the top of that thin metal and compress it to the deck lid with a lower ring that will fasten to the upper ring via machine screws. Whatever sub is chosen will mount to this ring, again with machine screws. The ring can be as large on the top as needed to increase surface area in the case the sub has a bit of mass, however that bridge will not be crossed as my friends and I cannot find an IB sub that will fit my needs/car suitably.

Trust me this thread was a last resort as I know there are about 4 or 5 IB threads out there, but non were specifically like what I needed.

Thanks for any help and feel free to ask questions.

Jesse
