I have a question about the loudness function on my Alpine head unit. When I have the loudness activated "on" it boosts the frequency centered around 60hz and then again around 15k hz as i have it set up..
I expected that as I got past about half volume on the display the effect of loudness boost would slope off and eventually disappear. This is not the case. I can adjust the system to sound great with the loudness off at higher volumes but I need a little bass/treble bump at low volumes (i.e. when kid and wife are in the car).
With the loudness on the system sounds great a low volumes but the eq bump is still there when I turn it up which i don't prefer. At higher volumes all sources sound great with bass/mid/treble set to flat.
I always was under the assumption that the loudness would "fade" away as the volume was turned up. I did lower the gains so that I can turn the HU all the way up.. Yep switching the loudness on/off at full volume still results in hearing the loudness eq effect.
Any ideas? The HU is an Alpine CDE-123. Thanks!
