I searched through the site to see if anyone had ever used Pioneer's PRO line of separates, but came up empty. The only two threads mentioning them were mine
Anyone ever used these? PRO Series | Pioneer Electronics USA
It seems they may be targeted at latin american markets, as google searches yield "pioneer-latin" site matches.
Anyway, I'm in the process of picking out a front stage for my 2002 Avalon.
I was drawn to the TS-M650PRO 6.5" speakers because of their high sensitivity (94dB 1W/1m), thinking they would make great door-mounted mids for my install. Pioneer lists the FR as 50Hz-18kHz as well, and Amazon has a pair for $100 shipped. They're 3 1/8" deep.
Digging a bit deeper on their site, I see the M800PRO 8" mids have the same FR and an even higher 96dB 1W/1m sensitivity. I don't yet know if I can cram 8s in my front doors (or fit 3 5/8" depth!), but I'd imagine they would offer some impressive bass up front. Amazon has a pair for $116 shipped.
They also list a 3" bullet tweeter, the TS-B350pro which has 100dB sensitivity and 3500Hz-27kHz FR that I could install in my dash on-axis. I don't like that it has a capacitor installed on the leads, but since I would be running active I could probably ditch it if I were to run them. The manual says that without them, the FR is 2500-27kHz, but that they should be crossed at 4k 6dB/oct. Worried a 3" bullet might be too harsh, though.
Will be running them actively crossed without rear fill, though I haven't decided if I want to do it via something like an 80PRS or with amp-mounted crossovers yet. I will be running a single amp, JL's 700/5, 600/6 and 900/5 are all very appealing to me.
I'd imagine I will need to pick a sub which will play lower than my current Kicker dvc CVR 8" (Fs of 53Hz), mounted IB in my parcel shelf, but that is for another day....
Thoughts?
