Hey guys, first post on the forum. Ready to take my audio skills to the next level.
So I have a 2010 dodge quad cab with the base stereo.
Looking to re-do pretty much the entire thing. Looking for some advice on what setup I should go with here and some technical questions as well.
Here is what I already have in truck or sitting in my garage from a previous install
My Truck: 2010 Ram Base Stereo
Receiver: Pioneer AVIC-X910BT (Already Installed)
Subwoofer Amp: Kicker ZX1000 - 1000W RMS @ 2 Ohm
Speaker Amp: MB Quart DSC - 4 Channel X 125W RMS @ 4 Ohm or 250 @ 2 Ohm
Wiring: 0 Gauge KNU Koncepts and some 0 gauge to 4 gauge adaptors to plug into amps
Here is what I am thinking ordering for the bass.
Box: Fox Box Dual Ported 12
Subs: Alpine Type R's - 2ohm
Read good things about that box paired with those subs from some other members on a dodge ram message board. I like the idea of a pre-fab box, not much of a wood-worker (no tools).
Since my kicker amp is 2 ohm stable at 1000w rms, having two - 2 ohm DVC subs should match up to 500w rms to each sub if I'm correct on the wiring diagram I'm looking at.
Now For Ordering Speakers.
I had a pair of Image Dynamics 6.5 comps in my last vehicle and loved them. Want to do the same thing, and in the back I will probably just do the coxial version of the same speaker. (or should I run 6x9's in back?) I realize the back isn't as important as the front.
Front Speakers: Image Dynamics CTX-6.5cs
Rear Speakers: Image Dynamics CTX-65
Each speaker will get about 125w RMS with the MB Quart amp I have.
Here are my questions on this.
Stock speakers are 6x9's if I read correctly.
I can get adaptors, baffles and just mount these in no problem.
Something like these 6x9 to 6.5 Adaptors
As far as mounting the crossovers and the tweeters, surely their is room in the door for the crossover and I plan on mounting the tweeters on the sail's like in this picture.
Excited to get going on this project, will probably tackle it sometime soon after christmas.
Thanks for the help.
One more thought. Speaker Wire - I probably need to go bigger than stock wire size for 125w RMS each speaker yeah? If so, should I plan on going through door molex connectors? Drill one slot out? Heard this can be a pain but I don't really see any other clean way.
