Evening guys. I am on break and decided for my project these next couple weeks I am going to build my son his first toy box. Loving rose wood and red mahogany I ventured out for some.
The price was a bit more then I wanted to spend so I decided to go with Maple. Not birds eye, just traditional maple.
I picked up 5 pieces of rough cut maple. Still running me 140.00 I was happy with the lot I grabbed.
Here is my issue. I want to dye/stain the maple to be a nice even red mahogany, or rose wood. You advanced guys already know where this is going.
I have used conditioner and stain, but have never cut shellac for pre-sealing a closed grain fine fiber hardwood like maple. I have also never used dye, only stain.
I was hoping to get some step-by-step help on this task so I can get the best outcome.
Thanks a ton!!
Jesse
