Simple sub box design help

I am wanting to switch from a sealed box to ported and have some questions since this will be my first ported build. I have used the RE box calculator a few times but is there any better ways for me to design it? Spl is my goal. I have seen people use pvc for their port is this a better way of doing it?

Plan to upgrade but this is it for now.
