I bought a used 2006 Toyota Avalon with the JBL Synthesis system. It is great for OEM but I am getting the urge to upgrade. I downloaded the Service Manual which has the wiring diagrams.
Per my understanding the JBL amp does all the processing. There are four low level inputs (L+, L-, R+, R-). There are 8 pairs of speaker outputs (FL, FR, RL, RR, Center, Sub, Surround L, Surround R)
If you were going to wire up the bit-one should I use the source from the OEM head unit to the amp. Or should I use the speaker outputs.
I am leaning towards the speaker outputs because I am afraid the JBL head unit will not put out enough voltage for the Bit-One. And I would have to make a RCA connector for L/R. I could put in a line driver but one more chance for noise.
Splicing all the speaker outputs would be a PITA but doable.
The other thing I was wondering is can I keep the Rear and Surround outputs from the JBL and just use the Bit-One for Front, Center, and Sub? Or is that asking for trouble?
I searched but I did not really find definitive answer since most OEM only have high level outputs.
