So, I'll admit it, I'm completely knowledge-less about car audio. You guys seem to know your stuff though, so hopefully you don't mind helping out a noob
I bought a custom fitted sub box for my car recently. It's not built very thick though, probably less than half and inch, and I'm worried about it's durability and sound quality.
I'm just looking for possible solutions to this. I'm not looking for a pro setup - this is a daily driver and I bought the FB box for it's lightness and the extra space it leaves in the boot - I just don't want to end up with a cracked box or it sounding like ass.
Should I be thickening the fiberglass? If so, is it difficult for an unskilled guy to add to a preexisting box?
How about sound deadening? I've read that dynamat helps make fiberglass boxes more durable, but would it negatively impact on the amount of bass I'll be getting?
Any advice is appreciated, I feel like I bought a FB box for simplicity and ended up out of my depth anyway
