OK people, so I'm new on the site but have been an audiophile for the home for years. I'll tell you what I currently have in my truck first. 2000 dodge 1500 with a kenwood receiver, running to 2 amps cadence zrs c1 and c4.
c1 is hooked to 3 4-ohm
speakers 2 10" jl w3 in a sealed box under back seat and 1 12" w3 in a jl stealth box under front center seat.
c4 is hooked to 2 sets of components mb quart qsd 216 6.5" in the front doors and qsd 213 5.25" in the kick panels. both using the factory passive crossovers.
Don't get me wrong the system sounds ok, but recently the heater core went out in my truck and ruined the carpet. and since I am going to be removing the dash and replacing the carpet, I figured time to upgrade!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to go active and have already purchased a 80prs pioneer receiver, and another c4 zrs amp. I also bought another yellow top optima and a battery tray to put a 2nd battery under the hood. I also have a kicker 2 way active crossover, not sure if I'll need to use it or if I will be returning it.
I mostly need help figuring out whether to split into 4 way active, or if to keep 3 way active and set the bandpass crossover for midrange to the 6.5" and then use either the amp high-pass or the kicker crossover to block some of the bottom frequencies from going to the 5.25"
Also guys I'm thinking of driving it like this one of the c4's for the mids, 1 channel a piece. as for the other c4 not sure if I should run a tweeter off each channel. amp is rated at 150x4 at 4 ohms, but the tweeters are 6 ohms (stamped on the back of the tweeter) or wiring them to only half the amp and running them at 3 ohms per channel, and then bridging the other side and running the 12" sub off of channel 3 and 4. (my thinking is that having subs of different sizes in different boxes in different locations in the vehicle should be driven off different amps).
Any thoughts people???????
