Is there a really good 3.5" Coax?

So I was using Dayton RS75s in my dash, and while they had a really good midrange sound that I liked, they rolled off around 10K. I felt i was missing the highs. I replaced them with Tang Band 25-2176s soft dome tweeters, made some crossover point adjustments, and now i got my highs but I miss the good midrange sound of the Daytons. Are there any 3.5" coax speaker out there that would give me both mid and highs with comparable sound quality of the brands like Dayton and TB. Would like to hear if anyone has a good recommendation based on experiance. BTW i dont have room for 4" speakers in the dash of my 2012 Cadillac CTS. Only 3 or 3.5s.

Strange issue....insight on this?

A guy I know installed a subwoofer amplifier and sub in his 2017 Equinox.For signal he tapped the front low levels before they entered the stock amp.Obviously he left all the connectors in the stock amp as he was just adding a sub to the system.Now the issue is that when he cranks it at high volumes the sound goes back and forth between the left and right speakers as if somebody is rapidly turning the balance knob left and right and left and right,etc.

Anybody got a clue as to what could be causing this bizarre issue?

Ok. So this amp is beat to hell. Scratched up etc....
Ugly.
It works great - unless you slap it. Seriously. Audio cuts out. Slap it again, comes back on.
Obviously something loose. Of course annoying in a vehicle, as i presume it would cut out on bumps.
Another piece reclaimed from my ex. And did she beat the shit out of this one. Hence the price. 50 + 5 for shipping. (Covers materials)

Prob an easy fix. Dont have the time to even look at it.

Subless Silverado setup?

Hey guys, I'm organizing an upgrade for my stepfather's 2014 Silverado truck with an extended cab.

He had the standard non-Bose system but replaced the head unit with a Jenson unit.

I'm gifting him my old Audison AP8.9 bit dsp/amp + the monoblock sub amplifier. I'm also giving him a used set of HAT L6v2 6.5s for his front doors. I bought him some new .75" tweeters for the A pillars as well.


Rather than going with an expensive custom sub box, or an under seat solution, I was thinking about getting a set of shallow-enough 6.5" subs for the speaker mounts on the extended cab door. The OEMS are probably some super-cheap full range drivers I would assume. Originally I was going to use some Silver Flutes or Daytons as a rear fill, but now I'm thinking of going full-on subs in the rear doors and giving them a ton of power via the Audison amp. I'd have the mono-signal split to feed each speaker.

Or perhaps just bridging two of the DSP channels/side would be enough (I'll have 4 unused DSP channels for the subs if I didn't want to use the additional sub amplifier) Two bridged channels would give 130/channel into 2 ohm drivers if I could find them.

Anyway, I know a couple of 6.5s wouldn't hit as hard as a more exotic solution, but I figure that it should work well enough for his needs. He is 67 and not really a SQ or SPL freak.. just an average older guy with a bit of tinnitus :)

Anyone ever comes across, or use, a similar setup? thoughts?

old school vs new fair comparison and recapping

i finished recapping my earthquake pa 2300 and i can't beleive the tremendous improvement i heard.
bass is so tight and punchy and fast that i changed me tuned and added more bass and overall and added 2db at 31.5hz.
i wonder when we compare old school vs new amps if we take this into account.
i believe comparison is not fair and if two amps are close after a recap to the old own it will blow away the new one.
i don't know if such a dramatic improvement will be for full spectrum as for bass but i plan to recap more of my amps to find out.

peerless hds nomex 8 inch

i have read rave reviews for this driver.
i have old school infinity beta six old school now to my doors and i am
thinking about the peerless.
the beta is 70 watt rms 89db and 4 ohms.
the hds is 90watt 90db but is 8 ohm.

my amp is earthquake pa 4020 bridged 4ohm is 145 watt 4 ohm
i wonder at 8 ohm it will be 80-90 watts and maybe it is not enough for
this driver.

what do you guys drive these speakers with?
should i do the swap?
should i look for and amp too?

FS. OS Zed Hifonics vii, Autotek

Hey all. Raided by my step dads old audio gear thats been sitting for a really long time. Everything is in great condition for what it is.

I tested the amps. The Isis and Ulysses work and play music. One of the Autoteks doesn't light up or play music and the other, it worked but when i was putting it back together, the rca ground broke off from the board when I took off the bottom plate to get pics. I pulled too hard and it all came at once, twisted the rca solder. Easy fix with a fab of solder.

All of these items are quite old and i highly recommend having them recapped and looked at. These won't be a simple buy and throw in your rig for an OS build.

I didnt test any of the small things. I ran power and remote to the Ophelia and the power light lit up. Thats the extent of the testing i did on it.

I honestly don't know the worth if these. Some eBay searching has shown decently high prices around the $400 mark. Seems high to me. I'd like to get around $200 for these each. I can make a deal for multiple or the broken ones.

Shipping will be tricky as these are monsters in the weight department. I can guarantee proper and good packaging though.

2019 Mercedes E63s - Sub & Amp

Just got a 2019 Mercedes E63s and want to add a sub/amp to it.

I previously had a 2016 BMW M3 with a JL Audio 10w3v3 sub and JL Audio XD500 3v2 amp. Sub was in sealed 0.97 cubic feet box.

The E63s has the standard Burmester Premium Surround Sound system.

Looking for the best SQ subwoofer under $300. I've come across:
  1. Rockford Fosgate 10 P3
  2. JL Audio 10W3
  3. IDQ10 V.4

I'm open to a 12" sub but do want to maintain some space in the trunk.

I listen to mostly rock and some hip-hop. Any recommendations?

Also looking for an amp under $300. Not sure if I should get a two channel amp and make the factory subs into mid-bass...

Bought a 2014 ILX, need help figuring out the best install path

Hi all, I ended up selling my Durango for a more affordable one, and got a 2014 ILX.


I've been researching and I think I might be the first to put an SQ system in one of these. There's some people putting basic stuff together on places like Acurazine, but I couldn't find much more. So, first question, if anybody has links to some ILX builds, please share.



Researching these forums, I found this Acura has an Active Noise Cancellation system. So next issue, I need to fully disable that. I'll just deaden the car up and deal w/ the cancellation turned off, because it definitely will screw with SQ.


I could find no possible way to install a head unit, so I'll need to take a signal from something. I have a JBL MS-8 so I can run that, but I'll get another processor most likely (fan of Helix), but still need to get the signal.



I am thinking 6.5-7" door woofer, ~1" tweet in the sail panel (stock setup looks perfect location-wise) basic work in the doors, and sub of some sort...and haven't seen it yet but maybe if it has a center channel spot, I'll run that too.



Thanks for any and all advice, links, etc. Vehicle is 2014 ILX 2.0L, has a stock sub, and all that.

Kenwood excelon head units

So for some time now I have been set on getting the dmx-905s because it had all the features I wanted and had good reviews for SQ and UI. I went into my local audio shop and started playing with the different head units. The shop owner recommended I take a look at the DDX-6905s. Upon researching it seems there is little to no difference between the two other then the layout of the buttons, price, and an HD screen. Any of you have any input on if the dmx-905s would be worth the extra coin?

I plan to use android auto or stream my music via Bluetooth from my s9. Will have a backup camera and may pick up a dash cam. I will be running a pretty basic system . 6.5" Components in front, maybe 6.5" coaxial in rears(still undecided), and 2-8" woofers in sealed box under the bench seat. I just don't wanna spend money that I won't see a return on.
