Curious as to what amps for Sq build

$
0
0
I current am running 3 Mosconi zeros in my suv and 2 Zapco LX in my work van. Yes I know the Ap amps are a tiny bit better than the Lx but I’m looking for a different brand than Mosconi or Zapco. So what amps are out there that are better than the amps I already have ?

I’m going to be buying a Ws6 trans am soon and doing a sq build. I already got a steal on a set of 3 way active JL Audio C7s which I have heard nothing but good things about from multiple people so I’m looking for great amps to match them with. I want to use totally different equipment than I have in my other 2 vehicles so the search for amps and a dsp is on. I’m currently running a helix and Zapco dsp in my vehicles.

I know there’s that 7 channel amp by Matt Hall but 7k is a crazy price tag.

If you like fast cars, don't miss this!

Another piece reclaimed from my ex.
Works perfectly. In great condition as well.
One of the few pieces she didn't use and screw up.
Amp was NOT modded. (As people tend to do with these)
Asking 150 + ship.
Price seems fair, but Ebay is all over the place. So if it's off, feel free to let me know.

DSP vs analog setup

$

Getting ready to finally get an install going. It's been many many months in the making.

3-way front plus sub.

Factory deck.

So, I'm wondering about a dsp vs an old school analog setup.

Yes, I know dsp is better, with t/a and eq, as well as much more flexibility with xo points and whatnot. Plus can accept speaker level inputs.

But how would an older setup, such as lc2i (to convert from factory deck to rca) to a coustic xm7 fare? (7-way, so 3 way front, 3 way rear, plus sub)

Yes, I'd have no t/a or eq, and my xo points would be limited compared to a dsp, but the xm7 is no slouch either, and has acceptable ranges for xo duty.

And honestly, I'm just looking for loud, good sound. This will not be a competition level system, and I am not looking for perfection.

Just want to listen to my classic rock and metal loud and clean.

And would like to keep rears if at all possible. (I have kids, and almost always have them in the back seat)
The xm7 would let me do that, while with dsp it'd take some finagling. (Or leave them running off of stock deck, which from what I understand could have t/a and cancellation issues using a dsp for the rest of the system)

If the dsp option is THAT much better then I guess there's no choice.

But if the lc2i/xm7 option is acceptable, or more than acceptable, that's great too. (Even if I have to forego t/a and eq)

I already have the xm7, so there's that too.

Your thoughts?

Ok guys. Got these back from my ex. They play, but are scratchy at any volume. They're either blown, or have foreign matter in the gap.
I tried to find someone to repair, with no luck.
Maybe you can. Or do it yourself.
They are beautiful to look at, so buy 'em to look at 'em. Fix them. Or hang them on a wall. Shoot them. Anything goes lol.

If noone buys them, I'll take them apart and attempt to fix them, but I'll probably screw them up more. So figured I'd offer them to someone more experienced first.

Asking 65 + ship. Any takers?

Great midbass from Melodic Acoustic. I used them for one month with good results. They have great midbass impact and a very smooth midrange. They aren't rated to extend much beyond 2k, but I got great results crossing up to 2.5k. I believe these are identical to the Audible Physic H6MB.

In excellent condition except for some fuzz from mounting on one of them and mounting screw marks on the other.

* Shallow mounting depth
* Magnesium Alloy cone

Hi guys i have a kangoo van and im looking to buy a new head unit with rca outputs

I am gonna have a sub , amp and replace the 2 factory fitted speakers with 2 upgraded ones

Im fully new ro car audio so just want to ask a couple of questions to make sure im doing it right

Im gonna run a red fused power wire from my battery to the amp and a black ground wire from a bolted down body part to the amp also a blue switch wire from the head unit to power the amp when i switch on the head unit

Im then gonna run double ended rca connectors from my head unit to my amp
And then speaker cable from the other end of the amp to my sub

The part i need to question is the new front speakers do i run double ended rca from the head unit front speaker ports and then run speaker cable back from the amp to the front speakers ?

Also if im only fitting 2 front speakers were the factory ones are which would i connect them to

Rear output (STD) or middle range
output (NW)

Or

Front output (STD) or high range output
(NW)

Many thanks and any advice would be great

Illusion C3CXs in A-Pillar Pods

$

I am thinking of installing my C3CXs in some 3d printed pods made by Geoff @ Parts Express instead of doing fab work. Main reasons are to prevent doing fabrication work and my small driver side dash options. Does anyone have any confirmation of doing the same? The midbasses will more than likely be Illusion C8 in the door.

If anything, what effect will the pods have on the speakers?

So I've been listening to this stuff for quite a while now, but figured I'd see if anyone else is into this type of stuff. Retro sounding synthpop type stuff. Tesla Boy is easily my favorite... Few songs for y'all to check out if you've never heard of them or the music in general. Google play music links included if you're subscribed.

Feel free to share other bands/etc similar from this genre. If you like Tesla Boy, Pompeya are quite similar.

Need advice - 2018 Mustang GT

$

Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I have a 2018 Mustang GT with the 12 speaker Shaker Pro system. I'm looking to improve the audio quality a little bit. I've so far disconnected the center stage speaker and added few pounds of polyfil to the 8' sub enclosure in the trunk. This improved the bass a little bit but i still find it lacking in audio quality. I'm satisfied with the bass at the moment. I don't want a crazy sounding system just something that would sound nice and clean with tight controlled bass. I'm limiting my budget to 1k so trying to avoid the hassle of replacing the stock amp, but if that's the only way to go then i might consider it. Are there any speakers that'll work with the stock setup (just replacements) that would make a significant improvement?

I don't have enough time or skills to tackle the install myself so i'll have to take it to a shop to get everything installed. I've been getting opinions from multiple shops. These are the suggestions i got from few shops so far

i) replace the front sound stage (tweets, mid, sub) with Focal 165 AS3 while leaving the factory amp as is. They suggested i could add a amp later if i'm not satisfied. Asking 750 for this including labor. I don't think this is a good idea, as the impedance wouldn't match

ii) Another shop wanted to replace the factory amp with JL Audio VX600/6i 6 channel 600W amp with dsp but retain all the stock speakers and replace just the 3.5 mids in the doors with Mille Pro. They quoted me 1700 for this including labor and tuning in the car

Thanks in advance.

after adding an aux and running JL w1 12's I haven't been happy with the sound from my Hifi (S676A) setup. The amp has been finicky and the factory sub would sometimes cut out.(disconnected it now) *

I want to:

Install a double din that has 5v inputs BT audio and eq control that the factory system is lacking.( I turn the treble all the way down and it still feels harsh at times)

RD400/4 4-Channel Class D Full-Range Amplifier, 100 W x 4 @ 2 Ω (eventually swap them out but no rush)

For these reasons I don't want to maintain factory stereo and add a DSP like the JBL MS-8**or Mobridge DA3.*

Its been done a few years back before where a shop made a custom din kit.
this was the phrase i used to find a video :2006 BMW 530xi double I I din radio installation kit from customradio.com

Metra has one now. The wiring part is what I could use some help on.*
I understand factory stereo needs to be kept intact and most move it to the glovebox. Are new cables needed or are they long enough to reach glove box?*

I know I'll need harness to connect to factory wiring and antenna. I'm ok with disabling center channel and chimes but would like to keep steering wheel controls.*
Connects2 which is UK based has a kit that does it all (double din = everything else mentioned above for about $325 USD) Has anyone used it? What are your thoughts?
connects2. co .uk/Product/ProductItem/CTKBM25]Connects2 Ltd

If not that kit what would be the best way to piecemeal the required harnesses and wiring?*

Does putting a ported box in the trunk of a car waste the point of having a ported box?
What kind of difference is there in having subs in the trunk vs in the room of the car, also pointed towards you
