I am new to the forum, but far from new to car audio! My main amp is an Alpine 3566 that I bought in 1992. I've been out of the loop for a while (maybe as long as some of you have been alive) but am building a system for my Challenger and will need a little assistance. Hopefully I can contribute as well.

Door speakers (mid-range / tweeters) randomly stop and start working
Hey there. Hope this is the correct forum.
I have a 1997 BMW M3 with the Hifi HK system and an aftermarket (Alpine) headunit and upgraded speakers.
For the longest time (even before I replaced the speakers). My front door speakers will randomly not work (if they are working when I start the car, they keep working -- they have yet to just stop working while I'm driving). The rear speakers and the front kick panel speakers will still work.
However, sometimes power cycling the car will fix the front speakers, sometimes it won't. Sometimes, the speakers will randomly "fade" into existence and start working again while I'm driving.
Has anyone ever heard of these symptoms? I can't tell if my headunit may be failing or the amp in the back of the car that drives the speakers is starting to fail, or perhaps a loose wire somewhere.
I'm thinking maybe the amp for the speakers is starting to die or maybe some of the capacitors inside the unit are failing. However, amps can be expensive and I don't want to just shotgun parts at this thing.
Any advice would be great!
TIA!

Marvin Gaye What's Going On (Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Hybrid SACD/CD)
Info:
Marvin Gaye "What's Going On" MFSL UDSACD 2038 Limited Edition #00290
I'm thinning the herd at my house and selling some CDs. This is one of them. It sounds excellent. If you are a fan of this album - or really, music in general - this is considered by many to be the best version of this album (next to the MoFi LP version).
Album Info:
Here's some info I found:
Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab has obtained the master tapes of this landmark album and for the first time What's Going On will be released on the Super Audio CD format which has both a high resolution layer and a CD layer. As with all Mobile Fidelity releases, meticulous attention to detail is paid during the transfer process.
Marvin Gaye's What's Going On was a landmark recording and is considered one of the greatest albums ever made. Rolling Stone named it Album Of The Year when it came out and, in 2003, it was ranked No. 6, the highest for a non-rock album, in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time. Originally, the title cut was recorded as a single, and Motown chief Berry Gordy refused to release it, citing that it was too personal and political. "What's Going On" became Motown's fastest-selling single at that point, going to the No. 1 spot on the R&B charts for five weeks and No. 2 for three weeks on the Pop listings, which led Gordy to request a full album's worth of material.
1. What's Going On
2. What's Happening Brother
3. Flyin' High (In the Friendly Sky)
4. Save the Children
5. God is Love
6. Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)
7. Right On
8. Wholy Holy
9. Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)

DSP install questions
Installing my first dsp. Do these things ever lose their memory? My fear is that the thing could go blank and all of a sudden my speakers would get the full power of my amps all of a sudden. Should I set my gains so the amps are only able to deliver a safe amount of power, rather than control that with the DSP? Also, should I install passive crossovers on my tweeters to protect them? I assume using active and passive together is a bad idea.
This is my first post. I'm glad I found this place. I love the discussions here.

Winisd or mfg. Suggestion
I have been using winisd for a while, but I have noticed that with some subs there is a big difference in box size / port size / length vs what the mfg has on the spec sheets. I tend to believe winisd becaus the mfg specs just seem almost too good to be true. If it matters, (which it shouldn't) In my current build I am debating between Infiniti 1052W and 860W since I already own both and just need to decide how much trunk space I am willing to give up. The differences really become apparent if I choose band pass. I am comparing ported to ported and band pass to band pass just in case anyone wonders. I also realize that the car has it's own tuning freq.

Protection for large format tweeters
I'm looking for solid cross bars or protective metal covering that can attach to the front of my tweeters to protect them from damage. Specifically MDT29's. Ideas or sources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

2018 jeep grand cherokee spare tire volume
just trying to get some preliminary specs to plan a box build and i was hoping one of you guys with a wk2 knows the approximate airspace i could use in the spare tire area once everything is out. i'm guessing somewhere around 6-7 feet not counting for the box or woofer displacement. i've done sealed boxes for the last few builds and they were underwhelming, so i'm thinking of committing to a larger box to accommodate a ported, or bandpass box. the woofers, so far, are three dayton mkiii titanic 10s. i was hoping to use a single 15 once i sold these, but there have been no bites, so i'll likely have to keep using them.

Best SQ 6.5/ 6x9 or 8" for 250.00 or less?
Looking for the best possible sound quality for a 6.5 or 6x9. Will be getting about 60-75 watts crossed from 70-80 hz to 400 hz. If 6x9 or 8" mounting depth must be less than 3."
Was planning on using GS690 but did not have the depth. A component with a tweeter would be sweet but not necessary. Its for a 2018 Toyota Camry and I will have a DSP. Suggestions? Was thinking GS60?

Heat and sound layering for doors
Thinking of dynamat strips and then secondskin heat wave pro on the inner door skins. They say mould resistant, and there is not generally a lot of water, but rain does happen.
What is the proper treatment layering for heat and sound?
(Dynamat, heatwavePro, neoprene, MLV???)
Rear door:
https://flic.kr/p/2e4UT7v
Front door:
https://flic.kr/p/2e4UT8c
Yes it is a truck, and there is room to get in behind the window with ~ 5/8" or more of clearance.
I can measure it, but mainly wondering if the heatwave pro is really able to get wet without turning into a mess?

Advice: USB Pass-thru Doodad..?
2006 Hyundai Sonata
Kenwood DMX905s
Hyundai provides two 12v sockets in the center console.
Attachment 235843
I'd like to remove one (or both) sockets, then use that real estate to service the two USB jacks that feed a Kenwood DMX905s. I think this'd make for a clean, ergonomic install. Problem is, I don't know if such a doodad exists; eg.: "USB Pass-thru That Replaces the Standard Automotive 12v Socket".
I've google'd variations on the phrasing above, but I come up empty.
Any suggestions?

2014 GMC Sierra
Hi everyone,
Id like some advice on my planned install for my 214 GMC Sierra (8 in touchscreen non-Bose).
Not looking for something crazy just an improvement over stock. Want to keep stocked headunit and go for as stealthy an install as possible.
Already bought:
Morel Maximo Ultra coaxes (6.5 for rear and 6x9 up front)
Plan:
Sony XM-GS6DSP - 45 w x channel rms for the coaxes, 600W to sub, ability to change fader with app to overcome crappy stock eq.
Getting an 8 inch solo baric L7 mounted in a center console box from Rodneys boxes on eBay.
Lc2i or Lc7i for LOC. Thinking 2.1 may be ok if I tap from rear speakers for full range. Flatten signal and get rid of bass roll off.
Keep speakers in dash completely stock for Bluetooth phone calls and door chimes.
Thoughts?
