i bought a dayton audio imm-6 for my car to help setup my crossover and eq point's using audio tool on my samsung galaxy s9+. i notice after turning up the volume on my radio to the loudest it can go mean where my mids won't blow. the audio tool graphic started to go sky rocket and the only way i could get it to go down to lets say 80db was turn the volume on my radio down low. now my question is if i were to say switch to the umm-6 and run rew off my laptop. would i run into this same problem as well

Not typical of most I’ve seen. Seasoned eyes rescue us
I am new on this forum really because of this problem. But it’s comfy here so I might dig my heels for a bit.
I threw together some sound about a month ago. Kenwood head unit DNN 992, sundown SAE-125.4 and a small alpine 75x4 to power the speakers. I ended up replacing the components in the front doors (again). And ran one Rca cable to the back of the head unit. It sounded better than it ever has. I felt good about it.... then during the maiden drive to the local herb spot I hear a loud !POP! and smelled strong odor of an electrical fire inside the car. But not I. The trunk. I pulled over and check but found nothjng. Now there is some weird shit gonna on with this. Sudden massive alt whine. Wasn’t present at all before this. The sundown amp seems to be acting weird. Half ass working most of the time. The equalizer in the deck is registering upside down. If I raise the bass up it gets lower and vice versa. I am about to tear it all out if I can’t figure out this puzzle.

steering wheel audio controls? a way around it?
I'm looking to upgrade a 8 year old car receiver unit only to see that for the steering wheel audio controls it will cost a additional $180 plus the new receiver.
The current receiver is a Pioneer that already has the steering wheel audio controls adapter that i bought when i installed the unit but i don't think it works with the newer receivers. The new receiver i want is also a Pioneer.
$180 seems like a lot to use buttons on my steering wheel
The new receiver i want to buy is the Pioneer DMH-C2550NEX and to keep using the steering wheel controls crutchfield says i need to buy
iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR Interface Module $140
and the iDatalink HRN-RR-TO1 Factory Integration Adapter $44
Any advice besides don't use the controls? :)

Are the blazers the most underrated Nvs team now?
Hassan Whiteside, Rodney Hood, Ken Bazemore, McCollum and Dame as the starters! You have a lot of potential in Henzoja, Skal, Gary Trent Jr. Nassir Little, Zach Collins! You may have Nurkic back! Anyway I just felt like this is one of the better Portland teams I have seen. If Zach Collins continues to grow and Nurkic and Whiteside can play together .... look out!
They can certainly spread the floor to open things up for their bigs. Henzoja can score in this league and if he can be an X factor.. this is a top three western conference team.

York Pa MASQ/IASCA SQ show
Hey all, since I have moved back to York from Texas and a couple of us started Mobile Audio Sound Quality(AKA MASQ) I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in an SQ only show in York or the York area in August. I figured its pretty central for everyone between Western Pa/Eastern Pa/NY/MD/VA.
If this is something everyone might be interested in say maybe late August or early September let me know.
Thanks
Howard

Help with White Noise / Static in Front Speakers with 4-channel AMP
Ok so i had installed a cheap pair of component speakers last month with a very cheap amp. Well the tweeters had static, so i thought it was the amp or speakers. I recently purchased a set of Morel Maximo 6's and a MB Quart ONX4.80 AMP. Well guess what the static is still there. The White noise/static gets louder as it turn the head unit volume up. It always gets louder with the gain. I thought it was only the tweeters, but its also the Midbass. Even with the gain set to min is has static. Things ive tried - Purchased new RCA (4 channel RCA), Ran 4 New sets of speaker wire (POWER Wire on the other side of the car from the Speaker wire and RCA's). Disconnecting all RCA's from the amp doesn't change anything. Tried all the channels on the amp (same result). I have an AGM battery in the back where my 4ch amp and Sub amp is grounded. I Tried a very short ground wire to another ground (same result). Moved my Battery Ground. Tried moving the amp around to different spots in the trunk. Even hooking the older tweeters up in the trunk the static is there, so im sure its not the speaker wire. Tried grounding the RCA's on the Pioneer HU. Since its doing it with no RCA plugged in its something with the amp?
I just dont know what else to try. Could it be both amps are cheap? or have problems? I have been trying different things for 4 days with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It does it with BT, USB Audio, CD, Android Auto. Even tried hooking up the Passive Crossover, but still has static.
My setup 2005 Crown Victoria (Running Active)
Pioneer AVH-2330NEX (tried stock ground and harness and a new ground)
1/0 Wire Ran on the right side from AGM under the hood to AGM in the trunk
RCA's Ran on the left side with speaker wire
4 Channel ONX4.80
Soundqubed S1-1250
2x Sundown 12" LCS

Time for a speaker swap
Just wanted to share my experience with you all so anyone considering the same product can make a more informed decision.
I built a stereo in a 17 f250 by deleting the Sony amp, installing zapco 6ch, zapco mono, and an ms8. The speakers up front where illusion c6 carbons active thru ms8. Rear speakers where 6.5 illusion electra.
The c6s sounded great to me but was my first active setup so that dosent say alot by itself.
The drivers side c6 failed within months and because I bought new through ebay orca, wouldn't stand behind the product.
I paid 700 for a 1000msrp set. It was definitely new but they didn't like the back door sales devauling the merch.
I managed to resolder one of the leads at the bottom of the cone and it worked for a while... eventually lost the passenger door speaker and driver tweeter as well. Many others have had the same issue with leads/solder joints opening at the base of the cone. Not enough quality control for a 1,000 set, consider something else with better QC.
This time I'm going with the audiofrogs all the way around.

Cant wait to get it right again and hopefully sounding even better.

Crossover guidance - AF GB15, SI TM65km3, RM-12
Can you guys give me some opinion on my proposed starting points for crossing the following speakers in my new 2 way active build?
::speakers::
AF GB15 in sails
SI TM65 MKiii in factory locations (2016 Ford Taurus SHO)
SI RM-12 (sealed in trunk)
My DSP is a JL TWK-D8 feed via Toslink from a PAC AmpPro4
Based upon my research I'm planning to start by crossing at 80hz and 2khz with a -24db slope. I believe that slope is recommended for a few reasons such as being a bit safer and also avoiding some phasing issues at the crossover point...?
Does this seem to make sense for these drivers? I don't have exact dimensions for my sealed enclosure yet....don't think that will matter too much.

Focal 165krx2 vs es165k opinions please
I'm looking for opinions please. I have old set of Focal 165kr that i have used in a few of my systems and the woofers finally went. i got a pair of used 165krx2 woofers from local dealer that I'm currently using as replacements. My question is this. would the new ES 165K sound that much better than the older speakers if i change them out? I personally think they would just not sure how much better, if worth making the change right now. thank you for any in put.

sub placement in a trunk car
I know I may have started a similar thread many years ago, but I cannot find it.
So, what are the pros/cons of doing a direct fire in to the cabin where the front is sealed off from the rear of the subwoofer?
Generally, I do sub back so that the trunk sort of acts like a bandpass enclosure for the subwoofer, but that comes at a cost. Usually, lots of bass bleeds out through the trunk and things rattle like a mofo in the rear of the car.
I never tried a fully sealed off, direct cabin fire option, but am seriously considering it now. As a result, I want to know what the pros and/or cons of doing such an install would be.
Heck, I may even consider IB if I can fit a pair of 15s in my 2019 WRX.

12" Focal sub enclosure too large???
Seems like I have been chasing my tail on this. I fabbed a box to house my 12" Focal K2 subwoofer and I cannot get it to sound good. It will hit the lows decently enough but it's so boomy in the midrange it drives me crazy. Box is 40 L (for sealed enclosures Focal recommends 28-35L) and is being driven by a Hertz HCP IDK amp. I cannot run this setup wired in parallel...with the gain barely turned up on the amp I get HUGE distortion and bottoming out. Wired in series sounds better, but lacks the thump that I am expecting of a high end subwoofer. Any recommendations at all? Is an increase of internal volume of 15% over reecommend that critical? I can see if the box was double or triple the size causing issues.
I have an Audison AP Bit 8.9 Forza feeding the Hertz amp it's signal and have also messed around with the DSP...low passed at 60 on a 24 Linkwitz Riley slope.
Still cannot get it sound as I think it should.
Thanks guys.
