I have been using this processor in my competition vehicle for the past two years. I hate the fact that I have to sell it but I just can't fit it into the build in the new car.

Will include the phoenix connectors for the balanced connections and the ethernet cable with usb adaptor needed for connecting to your laptop for tuning. The dragnet software can be downloaded for free from Rane's website.

I had a great idea! Will it work?

So, I'm looking at buying a pair of 13W6V2 this coming weekend and I immediately started designing the box... Just like me, think too far ahead... Anyway, I found this while searching for specs and it seems pretty legit. My idea is to build this exact box since the dimensions are given on their website :P Except since it's going in a Trailblazer I would relocate the woofer cutouts to the top and do double baffling. Anyone see why this shouldn't work great?!

Steg for subwoofer duty?

I'm considering a Steg K2.02 to drive a single JL 10" W3V3.

Can anyone comment on Steg as a subwoofer amp? I really prefer AB amps over D which is why I'm looking into the Steg.

SPL, physics, and power handling

According to physics a 6.5'' speaker at 30 hz with an xmax of 5mm can have maximum 84 db spl at 1 m. When I read speaker specs they claim their 6.5'' speakers can play down to 30 hz or 40 hz, and can handle 100 watts or 200 watts rms. I know this is a thermal rating, but these are deceiving specs because there is no way these speakers can put out any kind of volume that low without breaking. This means at low frequencies due to excursion limitations these speakers can only handle a few watts. Unless there was some kind of bass reflex design in the door there is no way these speakers can play low as many people claim. I doubt many 6.5'' speakers can play much below 80 hz, but I read all the time people make these claims.

What do you all think?

How to cross over just mid and tweeter

Hello I have a situation where I am have one channel feeding a dashboard speaker.

Originally the dashboard location was filled by a tweeter. I have checked however and the wire feeding the tweeter is providing a full range signal.

I would like to replace the tweeter with a mid range speaker and a tweeter.


Im thinking that I may put a Audison Voce 3.0 speaker in there with a Audison 1.1 tweeter.

If I do that I can use the audison AVCX 2WMH crossover to provide a crossover for the mid and tweeter (would this filter out low freqencies to stop them being played on the mid speaker or does it just let all the signal go to the mid ramge and perform a crossover at higher frequencies?

Will I have to use something to stop lower frequency input to the VOCE 3.0 - or will the Audison crossover also filter out the lower range?


If I decide not to go with the Audisons, but for a cheaper set up I need to be aware that I need to filter out the lower frequencies to protect the mid range speaker.

I have seen bass BLOCKERS advertised.

Would it be correct to put a bass blocker on the wire to stop low frequencies playing on the mid range speaker?

I am also a little confused about what crossover levels I should use.

My system up front will have

8" woofer (what crossover levels should I am for here??)
3.5" mid (what crossover levels should I am for here??)
1" tweeter (what crossover levels should I am for here??)

As a final thoguht if I bought a 3 way passive crossover and just wired up the mid and tweeter, would this be OK - or would they only work with all three speakers wired in?

Dumb question, using TA where should centre stage be?

Im just starting to use Time Alignment for setting up my active front stage and its just hit me, should the stage be centre around me the driver or centre of dash? Im from uk so have right hand drive so i can centre the stage by delaying the right side and it sounds like im sitting in the middle of car, i then researched on here and read that people centre it in middle of car. That confuses me because to a point whats the need of having TA when already sound is in middle? Ignoring sub in boot and if all speakers are not equal length to you, but its like if im playing my system without TA and kean towards the centre the sound is already in centre, hope my question makes sense because im abit confused now lol

Includes original outter and each inner carton with all packaging, manuals, stickers, warranty cards, test graphs, everything they come with. Great little bang for the buck monitors. I used these in the garage to help tune, pick up imaging cues, etc. These image VERY well. Replaced with a much higher priced pair of Tannoy's or they would still be in use.

So I'm getting a 10" never been used w7v3 off my manager for $100. The thing is my amp only runs at 2 ohms and 4 ohms (kicker kx800.1) so would I not be able to run the sub?

hey guys im starting to plan out a sq build for my 2008 vw jetta. I have some what narrowed down which components I want to use to rainbow. ive read good things about them so that's why ive decided to run them. Are there any other brands you guys recommend? I just have a few questions about starting out.

1. I would like to run a carputer. If I do run one will I need to run a DSP to get all the alignment settings or is there a program for a computer to use?

2. If any of you have seen a mkv vw door youd know that the midbass is firing into the rear of the seat. Could I install say a 6.5 or and 8" midbass in the front of the door along with the rear 6.5 to bring more music to the front of the door or will it throw the balance off to much?



any info would be great and any critiquing would be awesome to.

Hello DIYMA!

As a long time fellow car audio fanatic I thought I would contact DIYMA for input.

We just completed our first YouTube video & as a long time car audio nut I figured nothing better that to start with Car audio from CES. There is no speaking, just images & video. Do you like this or do you like some discussion?

A F30 BMW build pre planning. Need opinions

about to install a system to a HiFi system (Not HK). No combox for direct iPhone connection from USB.

I think it's a complicated install. The installer is experienced, but have a feeling his F30 experience is low. Worked on a bunch of BMW's before, especially E9x

source improvement:
install an HRT iStreamer DAC to the Aux-in in the arm rest. This will allow a digital line out from my current iPhone 4s and be compatible with iPhone 5/6 (lightening) when I change phones. Also improved DAC but slightly redundant with the Alpine processor. The HRT iStreamer will also charge the phone so it's a clean one cable connection. Higher quality than BT streaming audio. Other main source is a 64GB key plugged into OEM USB port

front speakers:
install a set of Focal Polyglass 100V2. Concerned with the mounting depth as it's NOS that I picked up years ago but most new BMW's use the 100VRS or the 100KRS from Focal. the VRS/KRS have lower mounting depth.

underseat woofers:
Installer doesn't have a direct source with Gladden so doesn't have easy access to their OEM replacement drivers. No idea on the cost of these in Canada. In the short term will be reusing OEM ones and just power with a better amp.

center speaker:
most likely disconnecting. concerned with BT phone if it's used.

amp(s):
want to use the OEM amp to power the centre and rear fill but may still get a small 2 channel to power the rear and disconnect the center speaker. Will also add an Alpine PDX-5 (75W x 4 and 300W x 1). The PDX-5 will power the front components and the underseat woofers. The remaining 300W x 1 will be for a future sub. need to contact VP Electricity afterwards for a price on their 10" sub enclosure. May be easier than having my installer custom build one.

Sub:
want a custom enclosure in the trunk....left side or right. Undecided on specs/volume I can get and the sub woofer to use.

processor:
this is the big ticket addition recommended by installer. He's recommending the Alpine PXA-H800 with the RUX-c800 controller. The controller (C800) will either go in the glove box or under the cover behind the cup holders. Will need to relocate the 12V plug to under the glove box (OEM hole is there but CDN cars don't get the extra 12V plug) if I install here. The processor has two digital inputs and give me an option instead of using the iStreamer/Aux-IN, to install a transformer and power an Apple Airport express and run audio wirelessly to the processor digitally. Using a transformer complicates things but is potentially higher quality than using the Aux-In from BMW. update: just found Rocketfish makes a BT music receiver that has optical out.

BNIB, all original packaging. Never seen power. Dual 4ohm. A quick Google search finds several reviews. A long thread on here. I was using the 8" version as midbass in my SUV. Loved them in a small sealed enclosure under the truck. Plan was to move to these. Never happened, 16 year son has the SUV now. Clearing out the stash! My loss is your gain. The 8's were more than this shipped as I remember.
