Bit One.1 with almost inaudible sound?!

$
0
0
Happy Labor Day everyone,

I was hoping to be completed with my install, but it did not happen. Everything was going fine; I had made "final" connections from the OEM Source, through the Bit One.1, to the PDX-5, out to the tweeters in the dash and the 6.5's in the front doors. This is in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.

HERE WE GO: Let's put the fuse in and connect Negative Battery...Start the car...Turn on the CD...NOTHING! Well, not exactly nothing - If I were to turn the volume to max (38/38), and hold the speakers right next to my ear; I could barely make out what song was on...meaning, I had such a low volume that I had to concentrate to know what was playing - by my calculations, the antithesis to SQ car audio.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Are one of these possible?

Since I have removed the OEM Infinity amp, could the source unit not have any onboard power to run the speakers, meaning the OEM amp is necessary before the Bit One.1?
Do I need a different piece of equipment?

--OR--

Did I just get freaked out and it is a simple gain problem on the amp?
Is this typical for the Bit One.1 until I begin the work with my laptop?

Could I have hooked up Left Front, etc. to the wrong channel? (I thought I had read in another thread that the Bit One.1 is fussy and wants the connections that it expects.)

I AM SO CONFUSED!

I am under the assumption that the OEM tweeters were "tapped" into the front 6x9's to acquire sound...So, I have used Right Front as Channel One, Left Front as Channel Two, and so on.

Please help! I am cool driving to work this week with my car half torn apart and no sound, but I would like to finish as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance!!

Jeff

2 Ohm or 4 Ohm crossover?

$
0
0
Hello folks, I know its a first post but back at the beginning of the year I was here educating myself before buying, lurking if you will, it worked somewhat, lol.

This is my current setup.

Amp=Precision Power P900.5 900 Watt 5-Channel Class D-Very happy btw

Deck=Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS

Front Stage=CDT Audio CL 61.2 (2 Ohm version) 6.5" 2-way component

Rear fill=CDT Audio CL 61CV.2 (2 Ohm version) 6.5" 2-way component

Crossover that both sets of speakers use=EX-530
Elliptic 24dB 2-way crossover

Sub=J.L.Audio 10W3v3-2 2 Ohm

Here is my question, I like these components a lot but they just don't have enough low end for my liking, I would have went higher but money was a bit tight at the beginning of the year but we got a profit sharing at work and kind of as a lark I submitted an offer on Ebay for 2 sets of these Image Dynamics CX62 V.2 and lo and behold it was accepted.

I could only afford one set of the full component package but as I said I ended up with 2 sets of the woofers/midranges for the same price so I just bit on the deal.

Will the CDT crossover and tweeter be fine to use with these ID woofers, I see that the crossover is set pretty high but by the same token I have read where some folks do not use a crossover with these woofers, not really sure about that though.

Thanx for any and all input.

Victory Sonics 4-Channel tube preamp in custom chassis

Product Brand & Model:
Victory Sonics 4-channel tube preamp in a custom chassis

Condition of all items:
Functional: 10/10, raw custom case has a few blemishes/scratches that can easily be buffed out or covered by paint/anodize/etc.

Total Price: :
$345 shipped UPS or USPS

Shipping Terms: :
On me, Conus and APO/FPO addresses only

Pictures: - See below

Additional info:
This is an original Victory Sonics 4-Channel 12v tube preamp, configured as a dual stage 2-channel (has a high gain 12AX7 tube on ch. 1/2, looped back into ch. 3/4 with a low gain 12AU7 for added tubey goodness). This can easily be reconfigured back to a 4-channel if desired. It has ~40 hours on it.

The chassis is all my design and a one of a kind, machined from 6061-T6 aluminum. There are some light scratches, surface blemishes, and tool marks in a few spots that could easily be removed with a jitterbug or scotchbrite pad. I planned to finish this out but couldn't decide on plating or paint, and then I got busy as hell at work and won't have time to come back to this.

Chassis size is 6" x 8.5" x 2", but the tubes stick up another ~.75" above the transformer cap. Tube cages could be added for protection but may require some modification to fit the custom shape in the chassis around the tubes.

I've only been dabbling in tube audio for a few years so I'm not a seasoned expert, but I think this amp sounds quite nice for the price. The only reason I'm selling is because my awesome wife offered to help me out with dream gear purchases for our 15th anniversary and I've been salivating over some Decware tube gear for a while now.

The amp comes with the tubes shown, as well as a 12v wall wart and a power connector for wiring your own 12v supply into. I'll also include a mini-toggle on-off switch I had planned to incorporate. The pigtail RCA's shown are not included. Ground shipping to Conus/APO/FPO addresses is included, I prefer not to ship international at this time.

Cash is preferred but the only trade I may be interested would be for an MS-8 in minty/LNIB condition only.

quick question about fuses

$

hi all i have 2 12" re audio se-x's powered by a weak a** kicker cx 600.1, with knukonceptz kca complete 4 guage wiring kit, this kit came with a 80amp agu fuse.

the question is if i were to upgrade the amp to a audioque (soundqubed or whatever) 1200.1 would i need to upgrade the 80 amp fuse? the subs are two 2ohm dvc so it'll be at a two ohm load (pulling 870 @ 2 ohms) or does the wattage that im pulling not matter and i have to match the fuses on the amp?

i ask because my buddy has two incriminator audio lethal injections hooked to an audioque 1200 @ 1 ohm and he's only running an 100amp agu fuse and he hasnt popped a fuse yet

Older Coustic Power Logic Amplfiers

$

So recently I picked up a box of amplifiers from some people at a garage sale. They all work just not cosmetically perfect. Theres 2 coustic power logic 260's a coustic 100a and a Concord CA200-2. Honestly they sound pretty good. However I would like to know a little more about them. I have heard decent things about the coustic amplifier but I have not ever seen a concord before. Anyone able to shine a little light on it?

Front stage for my GTO SQ system

$
0
0
So I'm starting the my 2006 GTO build log soon. At the moment. I have a pioneer 80prs in a custom build dash bezel. I already have my amplifiers two Zapco Z150.4's. I have my RCA's unless I decide to build my own and I'll be using 0 guage power and dual 0 guage grounds in the trunk and to the rail. The only things set in stone is the equipment I already own and the subwoofers (4 image dynamics ID8 dual 4 ohms). So now I'm choosing the front stage, with the 80prs I'll be going full active up front. At this time I'm fairly confident I'll be using the Dayton RS180P woofers for the doors.
Now for the midrange and high notes I'm not sure. I love the idea of Audible Physics NZ3's but finding a decent price is troublesome. The GTO has places in the dash for OEM tweeters and the OEMs have a 2 inch cone so by MECA rules I can use up to a 2 inch tweeter or midrange and stay in the street modified class. I just can't seem to find a good 2 inch midrange also my 80prs doesn't have time alignment enough to run both it and a tweeter even if i did make the passive network for them. So I guess I'm asking what would you do?
Compete in modified and use the NZ3's or try and run in mod street and if so any suggestions on a tweeter or midrange?

5) 2m Straight Wire RCA's
6) ScanSpeak Illuminators D3004/602000
7) Dynaudio "Special" 172's

Condition of all items:

1) Dynaudio Esotar2 e1200 (Used): This is 100% Working and in decent looking shape.
This was repaired by Emilios (when he was with Dynaudio). The previous owner used it IB and did not use a Sub Sonic filter and the cone separated from the spider in a small spot (the entire glue joint was repaired/reinforced with special epoxy. This was repaired by Emilios and is in 100% working condition and guaranteed to work perfect when you get it.
2) Dynaudio Esotar2 110's (BNIB - Full Warranty): These are 100% working but have blemishes on the domes.
These are BNIB but have dimples in BOTH of the tweeter domes. Apparently the packaging can cause a suction effect with they are being air mailed to the states. In rare cases, this can cause dimples in the domes. Does not affect SQ at all, but is noticeable.
3) Dynaudio Esotar2 110's (BNIB - Full Warranty): These are 100% working but 1 tweeter has 2 very small, very hard to see blemishes in the dome.
These are BNIB but 1 tweeter has 2 very hard to see dimples in the tweeter dome. Apparently the packaging can cause a suction effect with they are being air mailed to the states. In rare cases, this can cause dimples in the domes. Does not affect SQ at all, and you have to look hard to see it, especially with the tri-bar grill on.
4) Dynaudio 15w38's (Used): These are 100% working and rare!
These are pure Midrange Speakers with a much smaller voice coil and ferrite magnet. These utilize the same die-cast aluminum frame as the MW152. These are the midrange Dynaudio Used in many of their high-end home towers and sound absolutely amazing. They have a low Fs and would sound absolutely killer in a 3-way setup.
5) 2m Straight Wire RCA's (Used - 4 Pairs): These are 100% working.....because they are RCA's...lol!
These are the Straight Wire RCA's made for the JBL Synthesis High-End Home System. They all have 90 degree ends on one side. Very high quality!
6) ScanSpeak Illuminators D3004/602000 (Used): These are 50% working.
One tweeter is perfect working condition and the other had the positive terminal break off and the negative seems loose. I did solder the wire back on, and it will play (when the negative terminal is held in the right position). Could be an easy fix and priced so that the tweeter that needs repair is essentially free.
7) Dynaudio "Special" 172's (Used - Extremely Rare)): These were used in my previous demo car (TL) for roughly 6 months, not even broke in yet. They look like new!
The are "Special" because they are essentially the Esotar2 Version of the MW172's. They are 4ohm and were used in the Dynaudio "Special 25's"if you want to google. They feature a Kapton Former and Full Neo Magnet. The T/S Parameters are completely different from the MW172's. Here are the measured parameters using WT3: R(e): 3.1877, F(s): 46.43, Q(ts): 0.39, Q(es): 0.416, Q(ms): 6.356, L(e): 0.237. These are Extremely Rare and sound absolutely fantastic. Think 650's in a 8". Pains me to sell these but they will not fit in the new demo car.

I bought these used off ebay not too long ago- I've decided I'm happy enough without installing them so they aren't needed.

They are in very nice shape considering the age of them and I'm rather certain with some elbow grease they will look all but new (Mostly dust in the pics).

I've never seen these polished like this either- these are mono eq's so 2 are needed to make a stereo pair.

2013 Ford Raptor Supercrew SQ Build

$
0
0
Hello everyone,

I have been lurking around this forum as a non member for some time now. I must say, there are some crazy builds on here!! Seeing these crazy builds has given me the courage to at least attempt a system build my self. I have also spoken with a few members that have been of great help also. I would like to say thank you to MILOX, COPPERTONE, AND NICK (FOCAL GUY). As we embark upon this journey together please feel free to send me suggestions. I really know shit about audio. I have several local raptor owners that will be helping me as well. This thread will be pic heavy.

I purchased my raptor in 2013. It's my DD. I promised my lovely wife the truck would remain stock for at least 1 year. Well.... the mod bug hit me within two months lol. As you know, the raptor is a vehicle in which everything about it is "excessive." So my thoughts were why not keep the excessive DNA going.

I would love to post some performance mod pics. But that will be up to you all. This is a audio forum first and for most.

The start of the system build will began this month as items start to arrive. I was very fortunate to pick up the 4 mid woofers 2nd hand out of a Porsche 911 in mint condition. I will try and post pics along the way.

As for right now, I am looking to run the front stage active and bi amp the rears along with subs. Check out the list below for current components.

FYI: I would like to keep everything stealth. I may need suggestions with how to get the front Beryllium tweeters to fit in stoic location.

1966 Lincoln Continental sub

I am building a system for my 66 Lincoln with 18 cubic foot trunk and have a 12" Kicker 750 watt L7 dvc 4 ohm sub in 2.2 sealed box that will be powered with a mono Kicker KX 800 watt amp tested at 917 watts ran at 2 ohms. It seems almost every one here dislikes Kickers for one reason or the other. I am looking for the best sounding sub and box set up for classic rock modern rock and occasional rap. I am willing to sell what I have now before I install something I will regret later. What is the best sub and box combo for me?

This is my daily and she needed a system. Decided to go with an old school/new school combination with two separate amp racks. Still very early in the build. No clue how it is going to sound. Past experiences have shown that new equipment line levels easily clip old school amps.

Amp rack #1 that will be tucked out of sight. I am some what familiar with 3rd Gen TL's so this will be tucked under the rear deck after cutting out the OEM sub 'enclosure'. It will still hang lower than OEM but I have an idea to 'hide' it.

Used an old Zapco DC 'V4' end plate set left from a previous install. Shown it is loaded with 4 small DC amps. It will probably wind up as three amps and a DSP6.

Tucked under the rear deck.

Original plan was to use a very large sub BUT there was a conflict with the amp rack under the rear deck. So went with a trusty AudioTech Flex 15. The baffle is 2.25" thick. 3ea 3/4" layers of oak.
