Subwoofer box

I'm currently running a Powerbass 3xl 12 inch woofer in a 1.75 cubic foot vented enclosure at 33hz. The subwoofer recommends a 2.5 cubic foot vented enclosure. Will I hear much difference?

Trying to decide on next set of speakers

I just sold off my Hertz Milles and Audiofrog Gb’s. I absolutely loved both sets of speakers but just like most of you I am wanting to try something new.

My shop wants me to try the JL C7 3 ways at a pretty big discount. The people I have talked too Except 1 has had nothing but praise for them. Has anyone heard them that has not liked them? If so why?

Another option i was thinking about is piecing together a 3 way set and using AD w800neo in the doors and maybe C7 tweet and 3”

Amp "crackling" sound

I have a Zapco ST-4X SQ that I bought used yesterday. Shortly after tuning It started making a "crackling" sound (almost like AM radio static but not as consistent as pink noise) at a low volume in the right rear channel. The noise volume does not change regardless of music volume or source. Can anyone help guide me to the most likely problem?

Newb. Correct me. Conceptual design. Need help.

Vehicle: 2004 Lexus ls430 with nav and Mark L audio system

Specs and direction-
Front doors: 6 3/4" and will be adding tweeters
Rear doors: 6 1/2" and replacing factory tweeters
Front dash: disconnecing factory speakers
Rear deck: disconnecting and removing factory 8" sub

I'd be okay not installing speakers/tweeters in the rear doors but the kids will sometimes be riding with us and do enjoy music. Never gone the front stage route so it could be a mute point but need to figure it out.

Trunk space for us is key. Will be taking the route of a downfire sub(s) but on the fence of 1, 10" or 2, 8"s.

Never setup a dsp before but I can follow directions so YouTube it is.

This is def a budget project but like most, sq is key.

Need help choosing amp

Hi, I currently have a Mosconi 240.2 ab amp and am looking to upgrade.

I am running a 2 way setup, tweeter is 6ohm and mid/woofer is 4ohm. Car is a hatchback.

I am torn between these brands: brax, gladen, Genesis, and Sinfoni. How much power do I really need?

PPi Art A404

PPI Art A404 Amp works great no problems with any of the channels also has original speaker and power plugs. Has some chipping of the paint on one foot and a small scratch on top. Art work is still in good condition.

I would give it a 8 out of 10

Audio Frog Gs60 , GS10 vs Focal ES165k component speakers

I want to get a front component speaker set for my 2018 VW Golf. I already installed Helix V Eight DSP/AMP. I am unable to decide between Audio Frog Gs60 , GS10 and Focal ES165k. Wonder which ones are value for money and sound good. I really don't need cross overs because Helix DSP/AMP is 8 channel and I can tune the speakers individually. PLease suggest. THanks in advance.

I hope they both fit in MK7 Golf with spacers.

Apple 'device not supported' from Helix USB card.

Hi all.

I'm not entirely sure which section this belongs in but thought it is sort of computer tech related and figured here might be a good place. Appologies if it needs moving.

I'm using an Ipod Touch 6th edition as my main source, fed through an official USB 3 powered camera kit and out to a Helix processor that has a USB card in.

In theory this works well and has done for a while, with the Ipod handling music and the camera kit charging the ipod as I go - perfect.

However, I took the system out for a while during which IOS went through 11 and now onto 12. Now when I connect it up, the ipod says 'device not supported' as soon as I plug the USB to Helix lead into the camera kit.

It still passes the audio through but stops the charging on my ipod, so the battery gets caned and runs out quickly.

Have tried all sorts - restarts, new cables, blowing out connectors, my iphone (which is also on IOS12) and nothing makes a difference.

Helix refered me to their UK distributor who kindly told me it is Apples fault. Apple don't understand and I am now stuck.

Can't help but think that it is something as trivial as Helix need to pay Apple to 'use' their products, they haven't so they are unsupported in IOS12.

Can't go back to an earlier IOS and don't really want to jailbreak the ipod to do it, although I might have to I guess.

Anybody have any thoughts of suggestions on how to get the sill ipod to charge?

CX5/AudioFrog build & Comparison

Figured I would put this up on the board for those that have a CX5 or similar Mazda. This isn’t going to be a flashy build with anything crazy but it will have some custom work and it will involve good gear. I will also be comparing the current equipment to the AudioFrog equipment with pictures and impressions of sound. This will be a slow process because it’s not my primary vehicle and I’ve got a lot going on right now like most of you do.

Objective: build a good sounding sound quality oriented system using good quality equipment on a modest budget.

Current Equipment:
Celestion AN2775 2-3/4" Full-Range
NVX XSP65 mid woofers/same as SB17 with slightly better car oriented TS Parameters.
Sundown SA12 in custom ported 1.8 net box with 33 Hz tune
Pioneer PRS4200F class D 4-channel with ICE technology.
Infinity K1000 mono.

New equipment:
AudioFrog GB15 tweeter
AudioFrog GB60
AudioFrog GB12 D2
Rockford Forsgate Power 600 4 channel (May keep the Pioneer)
Rockford Forsgate Power 1500 watt class BD (May keep the K1000)

This car has been through a lot of different drivers, amps, subwoofers, and it has been fully treated from the fire wall back to the hatch including all doors with Second Skin Damplifier. I’ve started out with an AudioControl DQ61, passive Polk Audio comps, and a JL Audio microsub 8w3v3. This system sounded pretty good and I kept that system for a long time. I upgraded the tweeters to Morel MTD 12 and caught the bug to keep upgrading. The DQ61 was a nice piece that was easy to time align and just produced great sound. That system at the time used an old school Alpine 3548 2 channel amp and a Pioneer D8601. The Alpine I still have and may use that for the tweeters. It won out in my amp shootout because it just plain sounds good. I then sold the DQ and purchased the JL TwK 88 DSP and Pioneer NEX 1330 HU and eventually the NVX woofers and have tried lots and lots of tweeters and full range drivers. Too many to list.

I will post pictures in the next post but now I have to get back in the garage and get to work before my time runs out.

Hello from Texas

Just signed up, but have been coming to this site for information for years. Awesome sight and now that I'm putting system together again, figured I would sign up so I can ask questions and get some opinions.
